Pain of Rejection, All for God
When a soul gives itself all for God, there comes, invariably, a time of rejection. When one is all for God, the conforming of the soul to Christ and in Christ necessitates rejection.
Christ experienced immense rejection from the Jewish people, from the Temple elders and priests, from his hometown friends and no doubt some family members, and in the last days prior to His crucifixion, all the apostles except John fled. His mother and a few other women and John remained by Him until and beyond His last earthly breath.
Jesus's basic "problem" was that He was misunderstood. He was envied. He was despised for His love and teachings and the power that His holiness exuded, for the power of His miracles, and the power of His mystical equanimity.
It has happened since, and prior in the prophets, that those who are all for God run into difficulties with the very essence and object of their love, in the structure of the Church.
The pain of rejection must be offered all for God. God will use this suffering as He wills.
Perhaps it is that God does not desire the soul to love the Church so much--so much as to not love God alone. God is to be loved above all things, and the Church in some aspects can become a "thing." The Body of Christ can become and act as "things", just as the Pharisees and Sadducees behaved as "things". When people become things and are no longer primarily souls, one must turn to God alone and offer the love and life to God.
If a soul has offered itself and its love to the Church, God may very well allow rejections, for the Church and Her Members to spurn the life and love offered, so as to have the soul to Himself.
St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi, along with many other holy saints, have expressed the eventual turning point of giving all for God, of being in God, and of loving God above all else.
